Projectionist Andrew Edgar hosts musicians Robyn Bromfield, Diarmuid MacDiarmada & Andrew Mooney to preform prepared, semi-improvised and completely improvised scores along to silent films. Emak Bakia (1926)

Robyn Bromfield, Fergus Cullen, Diarmuid MacDiarmada & Andy Mooney perform a semi-improvised score (with Diarmuid at the helm) along to Man Ray's avant-garde 1926 film Emak Bakia. This was performed live at A4 Sounds in Dublin for Bealtaine 2017, as part of the Secret Sonic Cinémathèque series of events. Man Ray's experimental film displays influence from dada and surrealism, and mixes a variety of photographic techniques, abstract imagery, and stop-motion animation. The title means "leave me alone" in the Basque language.

This was performed live at A4 Sounds in Dublin for Bealtaine 2017, as part of the Secret Sonic Cinémathèque series of events. The film was directed by Segundo de Chomón, and utilises stop-motion animation techniques and features what's considered to be one of the earliest appearances in a film of the trope of a "haunted house".
Chinkoroheibei Tamatebako (1936)

Robyn Bromfield, Fergus Cullen, Diarmuid MacDiarmada & Andy Mooney perform a semi-improvised score (with Fergus at the helm) along to a 1936 Japanese animated short film, Chinkoroheibei Tamatebako. This was performed live at A4 Sounds in Dublin for Bealtaine 2017, as part of the Secret Sonic Cinémathèque series of events. Chinkoroheibei Tamatebako was directed by Noburô Ôfuji, one of the notable directors of early 20th century anime, and one of the first Japanese directors to garner international recognition for his work.
